उज्जैन। सिंहस्थ 2028 की तैयारियों के तहत कंठाल चौराहे से गोपाल मंदिर तक सड़क को 15 मीटर चौड़ा करने का काम जारी है। करीब 900 मीटर लंबे इस मार्ग पर चौड़ीकरण की जद में आ रहे 60 धार्मिक स्थलों में से अधिकांश को हटाया जा चुका है। हालांकि, शाही मस्जिद और खड़े हनुमान मंदिर के पास स्थित मजार को लेकर विरोध के बाद इलाके में तनाव की स्थिति बन गई।
प्रभावित हिस्से को हटाने की कार्रवाई के दौरान पथराव की स्थिति बनी, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने भीड़ को नियंत्रित करने के लिए आंसू गैस के गोले छोड़े। प्रशासन ने किसी भी स्थिति से निपटने के लिए क्षेत्र में करीब दो हजार पुलिसकर्मियों को तैनात किया। मौके पर जेसीबी और पोकलेन मशीनें भी पहुंचाई गईं।

शाही मस्जिद के प्रभावित हिस्से को चौड़ीकरण की कार्रवाई से बचाने के लिए मुस्लिम समाज की ओर से इंदौर हाईकोर्ट में याचिका दायर की गई है। मामले में सोमवार को महत्वपूर्ण सुनवाई होनी है।
